  1. i wonder if there will ever b a book that goes more into her past cause we dont really know 2 much about her and she is like one of my fave charecters adn she is a beast when it comes 2 fighting

  2. Hm, I may be of the unpopular opinion here, but I kind of like how Raven is being written (then again, I've only read the first two books). I like the idea of *not* really knowing too much about her because it gives her that mysterious awesomeness that I found kickbutt.

  3. that is true she is mysterious in a good way and gives her charecter a bit more depth instead of this killing machine that slaughters everyone in her path

  4. Raven is really cool as she is, but it might be nice to have one of those sort flashbacks, but in third person. Only a small bit of her past life being revealed would be very satisfying, and the air of mystery that surrounds her can stay.

  5. like in the start of dreadnought (im hoping theres more-havent actually got the book yet)

  6. How did I miss this thread?

I haven't read Dreadnought, but am very hopeful that there'll be something really good in the beginning? (Never mind, don't answer that, I'm not fond of spoilers.)

It would be awesome if we knew more about her past, but then if we did she wouldn't be the "mysterious" character she is now (at least, before Dreadnought) and that would probably take away a bit from her character. Also, I'm having terrible fun making up different versions of what her past /could/ be like.

  7. same here, funnily enough one of my theorys seems to be kinda true although im going to have to get my hands on the entire copy of dreadnought to find out exactly how true.

btw the beginng bit can be found here: http://www.lovereading4kids.co.uk/author/1431/Mark-Walden.html (click on the extract button under the summary)

  8. ARGH! Why did you have to do that?

    *stares at link*

    Don't... click... don't... click... don't... click.

    Gah. I give in. >.<

  9. oops. sorry.

(btw if you cant be botherd to sighn in i'll send you my all purpose password)

  10. It's okay, I probably would've died of curiosity before the librarian even considered getting it anyway. xD

Only... we need an account to read the extract, and I don't have an account.

    Oh well.

ETA: Just saw what you said. *is now sorely tempted* You don't mind giving out your password?

  12. Oh, thank you. ^^

Now all my self-control has gone out of the window.

  13. happy reading

  14. WAIT.

That's Dreadnought?? Then I've read it. Wait... wait... lemme rethink.

  15. ah did you mean rogue?

  16. When was Dreadnought released?

Crap, I have to go to bed now, but I'm very confused. I'm 100% sure that I've read that book, yet I think there's another book I haven't read but isnt' Dreadnought the latest?

    *wails*

    *is confuzzled*

  17. rogue is the one squedualed for relase in july next year- dreadnought is the one that just got released.
    good night

  18. That extract was from Escape Velocity!

    Wasn't it?

If it is, then yeah, I'm not losing my mind.

(Whatever, I really need to go now. x) Bye!)

  19. maybe you found it somewhere else...
And I read that extract. I love it! So I guess it can't be too bad to reveal a LIITLE of her past...

  20. yeah, i mean she was about 10/11 years old and she pwned those guys asse's.i hope we get to see more or that furan fellow he sounds horrible,we need to read about how raven quished his head in too. (crazy theory alert): hey what if he's involved in this diciple thingamy???

on anouther thought the books seem to be getting a lot darker...

  21. I try again today and get a different excerpt. Which I am going to read now, against my better judgement. >.<

  22. the dreadnoiught excerpt is the one that starts: the young girl ran through the kneedeep snow....

  23. Yep, that one.

Finished it. Eek. That Lucy girl must be special if Raven went to collect her personally. And I'm not all that fond of her (the foursome were great as they were) but whatever. Now I need to read the rest of the book!

    *flails*

Oh yea, thanks myshii for the access code.

And another comment about the excerpt. Why did Furan know about the name Raven? I would've thought that it was a codename she adopted only after she started working for Nero. And she couldn't have been with him at ten or eleven years old, could she? Well, she could. Also, it means that in the present time, Raven is about… thirty?

Um, ignore me. I'm just speculating to myself until I get my hands on the actual thing.

  24. maybe it was a nickname he had for her. myself i think she was given the codename and nero found out about her later (possibly during the screwup of the first mission,he took her awayform furan becuase of the way he was treating her.) :%

  25. can't believe raven's 30....

  26. well theres allways the moisturizer....

  27. ROFL! I really wanna know how Raven met Nero and stuff... basically I wana know her past

  28. oh ya me too, isnt that in escape velocity or dreadnought (i wouldnt know though)

  29. Nope It's not in Escape Velocity but I"m not sure about Dreadnought

  30. I like that all we know is that she's from Soviet Russia. Cool mystery.
I like not having too much sympathy pured into these characters. They're villains, after all. BY CHOICE.
