So, this is a game. Pretty self-explanatory. Next person posts the next number. There is no limit. When Mark (HIVEmind) posts - anything he wants to - we start again at 1. No posting twice in a row. ;)

I think we need one of these... Please post any and all rants about your life, and anything completely random you'd like to say here. Maybe now we won't spend pages on end off topic...
I doubt it. Oh well...

Today, since I'm at my grandparents house in Indiana (yay... 10 hour car drive...), we went to the children's museum. There was this AWESOME exhibit full of King Tut and other egyptian king's stuff. I touched this one cat's grave casket thing (though I wasn't supposed to touch... oops). It was REALLY cool. They had a lot of other cool stuff there... I laughed my head off when I found out that the dinosaur species called 'Dracorex Hogswartsia' wasn't a joke... XD
Besides that, I just had meatball sandwiches for supper, and I'm planning to watch the meteor shower tonight!
So... How's life?

I was just thinking...
Maybe each year, on the 11th of April, we could have a rememberance service for the old forum (this forum) that we all knew and loved...
How about it?

Hi Guys

I have what I think, is some cool news. If you point your browser at

www.markwalden.net/forums

you will find yourself at the brand spanking new HIVE forums! Greybeard and myself have been quietly working on them for a few months and I hope you'll all like what you see ;)

What this does mean is that one week from today on 11/4/2011 we'll be locking this forum for new posts. Unfortunately we can't transfer the posts from the old forum to the new one but we will be leaving these boards up as an archive. So you will be able to read the old posts whenever you want.

I know that people are probably quite used to what we already have but I hope that the new forum's features will persuade you that the switch is worthwhile! There are titles, post counts, simpler avatars and sigs and much MUCH better spambot protection.

I'd also like to say thanks to Amaya, Mec and Scotty for their help in getting the new forums ready. So a big shout out to our lovely mods :)

Post any questions that you might have in this thread and I'll do my best to answer them. In the mean time get over to the new forums and register before all the cool user names are gone ;)

Mark

In case I never get to post again, I have enjoyed the time I spent here. Nothing will erase my memories of this place.

Ok, for those who can remember, my first fic "Dark Core" was generally well received (thanks for that supporting fans ), but the second not as much due to being randomly confusing and having too much characters.

So... I've decided to give it another shot. But first, some admin (ugh, I dont like that word)

1. For all those people who said they wanted to be in the fic, apologies, you wont. The fic will get too large (again), and stop being interesting (again). I will make references to you, but you wont have any viewpoints.

2. Current list of characters: Cat, Aya, Sherlie, Mec, Flinch, RL, Tora, Rhiannon, Me, 07, Hunny, Falcon, Jli, Sinclair.

3. Sinclair wasnt online for more than 3 months I believe, so I will drop her from the fic. Currently I have plans to introduce Caitie in her spot, but yet to decide.

4. The fic is no longer called Slient Storm. I have chosen to start from scratch.

So yeah, please read and enjoy. If there is enough support I will continue further :D

((3rd person 1 of the 14’s viewpoint))

She saw… destruction. The landscape before her was hazy, almost surreal. She knew she was dreaming, but the dream was just so vivid.
Countless broken pieces of metal lay twisted in peculiar, of walls that once trapped them, of a roof that once caged them. Yes, she knew this place. For this was where they were created.
The Complex; lair of the Sils. They paid a heavy price to rid the world of this place, yet again she stood there, gazing at the horror they hoped to leave behind.
*Why* She thought to herself.
Slowly she walked around, gazing at the scenery. The complex was mostly build underground, so there was little wreckage lying on the top, but she felt the ground was loose under her feet. A large shockwave must have gone out, one that was caused by their own. As she walked around, memories started playing in her mind. Of how they were captured, the glyphs, when they were freed, when they met the others, of injuries, of the Dark Corridor, of death… of life.
*Why was I back here?* She wondered, but again no answer came to her.
She was at the back of the complex, opposite from where they entered. She stopped, her eye having caught something. Though everything around her was broken completely, a section of the back wall remained intact, seemingly unharmed. She touched the wall, its rough texture rubbing against her finger tips. It was build of ordinary bricks, like so many buildings she had seen before joining at HIVE. But something was up. One of the bricks glowed slightly.
*Like Sinclair once said*
She pressed the glowing brick. A slight vibration went through the ground behind her. Turning around, a section of the ground below her simply opened, it being disguised the whole time. Slowly she walked towards it, peeking inside. Below her a corridor started, moving diagonally deeper into the ground, small lights illuminating it.
Looking around she saw no danger, and started moving inside. The corridor stretched on for multiple meters, but at the end of it she saw an object. Slowly she moved closer, afraid of anything that might be jumping at her, but she reached the door uneventfully.
It was a large ornate door, deep symbols etched into it, displaying various objects. Some of them resembled familiar glyphs, others… words , though not of any language she knew off. She touched the door, and though it was etched, it felt smooth against her skin.
A crack appeared right in the middle of the door. She stepped back. Moments later the door was fully opened, but she saw only darkness beyond it. She tried thinking it was another Dark Corridor, but this darkness was absolute, not moving . Slowly she stepped forward, coming to a halt just before the darkness.
For minutes she just looked, not wanting to move forward.
*Turn… back* A voice hissed.
She stretched her eyes to their fullest.
Two red lights appeared in the darkness, standing still for a moment. Slowly they started moving up and down as whatever it belonged to started moving forward.
Involuntary she stepped back.
*Turn… back*
*Who are you?!*
A black figure stepped out of the darkness, not unfamiliar to her. It was the figure of a Sil, one of the most frightening things she had ever seen. The shadows were enveloping it at always. In its right hand it held a large sword. The figured continued marching towards her.
*Turn back…*
She continued to reverse, until her back hit a wall.
*That wasn’t there a mom..* She panicked
The Sil was now just inches away from her. It thrusted its sword forward, aiming straight for her chest…
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
She awoke screaming, but quickly she calmed herself. It wasn’t in her nature to do such things. Her roommate wasn’t impressed either.
“Found mice under the bed again?”
She merely growled in return. Blinking, she returned to real life once more. Their room was pitch black, save to the light of two glyphs burning light blue. She wiped her forehead, the lack of sweat slightly cooling her head now.
“We really should get Cat in here one time.” She could hear her roommate turn around in her bed again.
“Like she would be degraded to catching non-existent mice” She growled in return.
She lay down on the bed again, her hands still slightly trembling…

Just something that I thought off lately but couldnt solve without external opinions :D

If all the forum members were to take a certain posision in a family structure, where would they end? Please motivate :D

My personal opinions, feel free to disagree/argue/hate (NOT KILL) me:

Sherlie and Cat: I would place them as twin teenage girls in the family due to the similar interests and the rebellious nature (hey, too much evidence!) Sometimes they are at odds with each other, but generally they do get along, though the other family members might tend to keep a safe distance away from them, though Tora hasnt received as much threats as the others

Tora and Rhiannon: Also twins, though they tend to have "many differences of opinions". Tora being more interested in languages while Rhiannon is always stalking around.

Caitie: Hmmm... I would place her as the oldest sister in the family, due to generally being more peaceful than most of the others (that I regulary talk too)

Aya: Would place her as the mother of the family, due being more mature when problems arise than most of the others.

ER: (Had to take this opportunity )Dunno whether uncle or uni male in the family that has a VERY satirical view of everthing around him.

Those are just some. What are your opinions

I know this may sound strange, but is there any way to somehow put the date people came onto this forum and put it on the new one? I mean it's kinda special when people join our family, and lots of people have their"birthdays" coming up in April and May, and well I was just curious. It may sound stupid, but I think its important to know when they joined. Is there a way to do that?

I've been working on a fanfic in the topic NEROXREVEN4EVER but I decided my fic's not really about the two of them as a couple exactly so it probably doesn't belong there, so I compiled everything I've written so far into this thread. Enjoy! :-)

Raven fired two more rounds at her rather elusive targets, and, upon missing both of them, cursed quietly in Russian. The small hand gun she was using (for lack of a better weapon) wasn't really helping her ill-humor either, it was ancient and not entirely accurate at this range, not to mention one of her targets had somehow managed to get ahold of a sleeper. "Max," she said into her headset, "I don't like this, these two are really good, too good for comfort I think we should-" ZAP!
*10 hours earlier*
Dr. Nero had recieved an invitation to attend a gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, two things had him concerned though: first, that there were two invitations (both forgeries) and second, that they had arrived with a letter which simply said:
Dear Max, I have a buisness proposition I'd like to discuss with you, and I'd prefer to do so in person, if you don't mind.
P.S. Oh, and feel free to bring your little watch dog along.
Cordially,
- T.R.
Nero hadn't had to guess what T.R. stood for, there was only one member of G.L.O.V.E. with those initials - Thomas Riley, one of the youngest and newest members of the orginization, and not one Nero was especially familiar with, which troubled him.
As soon as Nero had finnished reading he went to his computer and pulled up Thomas Riley's file. The more he read the more frusterated he became, the file didn't really have much to offer him as to what kind of person Riley was, it basically just had some trivia about his childhood, the fact that he HADN'T attended H.I.V.E. (which irked Nero) and some of his past exploits listed, and while Nero enjoyed reading these, still all it told him was that Riley had a flare for drama, (a rarity among the younger generations) as most, if not all, of his exploits had a certain style to them, a signature of sorts, but Nero could've figured that out on his own. Nero didn't like the idea of offending a G.L.O.V.E. council member by refusing the invitation to the gala, but walking blindly into, what could easily be a trap, was an equally bad idea. As Nero was stressing over this his computer beeped and a window popped up informing him that he'd just recieved an e-mail from an unknown address, he opened it and read:
Dear Max,
I've seen to it that you and Natalya are on the guest list as Mr. John Monet, and Miss Nadia Rembrandt, (it is an art museum after all ). I look forward to seeing you there.
Cordially,
-T.R.
Nero found this e-mail troubling, for many reasons, the main two being, A: Nero hadn't accepted Riley's invitation, and yet was already being treated as though everything was settled. And B: Riley'd used an emoticon. What was that even about?! Nero sighed and massaged his temples, feeling the beginnings of, what promised to be, quite the migrane, he decided emoticon or no Raven needed to be made aware of the situation. Whether they liked it or not it looked like they were going to have no choice but to play along with Riley's little game. Nero had been on thin ice with the members of the G.L.O.V.E. council as of late, what with all that had happened at H.I.V.E., so to potentially offend one of them now, would be a very bad idea. He flipped open his blackbox "Natalya, my office please." This was going to be a very long day.

To be continued...

OK, guys, I wikipedia'd spam bots for this thread, so, as far as I can gather, the more you post on the thread a spambot starts, the more often it'll comeback. Also, with that bug thing from coming from google, don't click on any of those links (not that I'd expect you guys too) but, if they're a glitch or whatever caused from the bug, it could put a trojan virus on your computer (A trojan virus hides in unused files for a while so that virus scanners thinks it's dead... in simple terms, that is) and that won't be good....

Basically, I think if you want to complain about the spambots, post here, and not on the actual thread... And don't click on the links from the glitch... You don't want a virus, do you??

Oh, and Mark, if by some chance you're reading this, can you possibly delete the spammy users and their threads??

And i was bored.. so im going to start one to

-A Good Kind Of Different-

You young girl walked briskly, walking parallel to the River Themes. London was always busy at around 6pm, everyone was coming out of work and it just added crowds to the already packed streets. She managed to keep up a brisk pace and changed her course every time it appeared that she would walk into someone. She moved gracefully, making little more than no sound as she walked through the busy streets. She wore skinny jeans and a hooded jumped, the hood covering her face and concealing her identity from those who walked by.

For the gang:

The dawn smog smothered London’s skyline, the barely visible silhouette of the Tower of London was reflected in the Thames’s murky waters. The image was warped by ripples cast by the light rain. People hurried about their daily routine; pedestrians with heads down and umbrellas up, yearning for their beds and motorists slumped in their expensive cars, peering at foggy windscreens through their blurry eyes.
A fourteen year old girl surveyed her surroundings, legs tucked under her chin and feet on the plastic woven seat. Her slender hands were wrapped around a polythene cup of hot chocolate, tapered fingers absorbing its heat. She raised the cup to her lips and sipped, miss-matched eyes peering out above the rim, one cobalt blue, the other emerald green. Two strips of white hair fell either side of her face, framing it, while the rest of it was piled on the back of head in a thick, black bun. Only her duel-coloured hair and odd eyes marked her out as different, but the people surrounding her avoided the girl, knowing what she was. Her clothes, although not completely normal, were not particularly eye-catching. All the garments were black and protective. She wore a long sleeve polo neck top, the ends of the sleeves ending in triangles, linked so it fell in between her fingers. Her military style trousers were made of a light material and had lots of pockets. A long black coat fell to just below her knees, the material gathered at the waist with a strip of deep red silk, the same material as its lining. The girl’s boots were ankle length and the leather was well worn, the laces tied in tight knots.
“Good morning Araminta.” A vice from behind her commented. Araminta didn’t even turn, just pulled out the chair next to her, its metal legs screeching against the cobbles.
“Sherlock.” She nodded in reply.
Sherlock sat down next to her, crossing her legs on the seat. Her red hair was cut short and spiky, as if she had just run her hand through it. She had sharp features and her hazels eyes regarded Araminta with a playful glitter.
“How’s life been treating you?” Sherlock asked, turning to look out at the river.
“Much as it always has. And you, anything interesting happen in Ireland?” Araminta’s voice was calm, her English accent smooth and easy.
“Nothing of any importance. Let’s walk.” Sherlock’s accent was a mixture of both English and Irish, as if her voice couldn’t quite choose between them. Araminta stood and placed a handful of change on the table in payment for her drink. The two girls turned and walked side-by side, quickly falling into step with each other.
They moved in silence, neither talking as they strode through the streets, not needing to speak to know what the other was thinking. They had worked together many times before, in their world they grew up fast, and in any case, they were older than they looked.
“Has your gift settled yet?” Araminta finally broke the silence as they entered a small park and sat down on the grass.
“Yes, a few months ago while I was battling a fear demon, and a really ugly one at that.” Sherlock clicked her fingers and small spark burst into life, quickly developing into a large flame. It flickered and danced for a few moments before she closed her hand, extinguishing the fire. “What about you? Have you got a last name yet?” In their culture, everyone had one name until their gift developed. If a child was human, they inherited their family name, but if they weren’t, then their last name was attached to their gift.
“I’m a Changeling, meet Araminta Wolfe.” Araminta couldn’t stop herself from smiling at Sherlock’s grin, Fire elementals were rare, but Changelings were rarer. And of all the Changelings, a wolf was the rarest.
“I am in the presence of a member of the Wolfe family, I am honoured.” Sherlock gave Araminta a mocking bow. “But seriously Ara, wow. Hey, Sherlock Malpense and Araminta Wolfe, I like the sound of that, I wonder what our name would be if we were a double act…”
“You really are strange sometimes.” Araminta commented, shaking her head.
“Sometimes? I’m insulted.” Sherlock grinned and stood up. “Have you registered yet?” Araminta grimaced.
“No, have you?” Sherlock shook her head. “Why don’t we go together? Get it over and done with?”
“Sounds like a plan, at least that way we won’t have it to do later, The Circle get all snippy if you don’t tell them within a month of returning to English soil.” Sherlock took Araminta’s hand and hauled her to her feet.
“We’d better get going, I’d rather get it over and done with than keep putting off. Come on.” They began walking again, looking for all the world like two normal teenagers coming back from a day out, looking at them, no one would have known that they were anything but ordinary.
